Round Table is a non-political, non-denominational association of young men between the ages of 18 and 45, embracing representatives of nearly every profession and occupation, whose objects encompass the encouragement of high ethical standards, the promotion of social intercourse and fellowship among young professional men, the quickening of individual interest in everything affecting the public welfare, and the promotion of understanding amongst peoples of different cultural, language and political backgrounds.
The “heart” of all welfare-service of Round Table focus on the “Community Service” at the local level of each table. Community service splits into 2 main activities, the a) fund-raising and b) the social project itself.
The first Round Table was formed in Norwich, England in 1927. The founder, Louis Marchesi. The Israeli round table was formed in 1975 by Harry Baron from Tel Aviv and Sami Benbenisti from Haifa.
Round table no.1 in Haifa was chartered in 1977.
Today Round table Israel has 7 tables with 100 tablers.
The highlight of the Israeli Round Table activity was handing over the Charter to "Taibe's Table" on April 2006, which is the first Arab Table in Israel.
The Charter came as a result of numerous joint activities with the Arab people for the congregation and the people of Israel including activities and help for youth in risk from both nations. All efforts and activities are made in order to promote the relations between the two nations.
The establishment of the "Taibe Table" brought the Jewish side to open their mind to the Arabs congregation and as of today the "Taibe Table" is considering the possibility of establishing another Arab Table.
In 2006 the Israeli Table had achieved "The Table Of The Year" award in America, Europe and the Middle East (EMA). In addition the Israeli Table is requesting to achieve a global recognition.
